Also known as Pamban Island, Rameswaram Island. It is a major pilgrimage site and is located between peninsular India and Sri Lanka. Most of Pamban Island lies below sea-level. However, there are a few mondin the vicinity of Rameshwaram of which Mt.Gandhamadana is the tallest.Coconut, palm trees, fig eucalyptus plants are found in abundance on this island.

The cave temples, the Elephanta Caves that have been carved out of rock are the major attractions of this place. One can take a ferry from Mumbai to reach the island. This island was once the capital of a powerful local kingdom.

Majuli Island is a large river island in the Brahmaputra River, Assam, India. It is the largest river island in the world. The island has a number of attractions like the most important being the view of the mighty Brahmaputra River. The island is a paradise for bird watchers. The southeast of the island, southwest of the island and the northern part of island are the perfect spot for bird watching. The best time to visit is between November to March.

Srirangam Island is a river island situated within the city of Tiruchirappalli Tamil Nadu,India The island is 19 miles in length and 1.5 miles wide and is bounded by the Upper Anaicut To the west and the Grand Anaicut To the east. It is even an important Hindu Vaishnavite Pilgrimage centre. Most of the island forms part of the Srirangam zone of the Tiruchirappalli Municipal Corporation and includes the suburbs of Srirangam,Thiruvanaikaval,Srinivasa Nagar And Geetapuram.

Willingdon Island

Willingdon Island :

This is the largest artificial man-made island in India. Willingdon Island is located in Cochin, Kerala. It is significant as the home for the Port of Kochi, as well as the Kochi Naval Base of the Indian Navy And Central Institute of Fisheries Technology. The Island is connected to Kochi’s mainland by road and the railway Venduruthy Bridge.
