The Islands of Turks and Caicos are so rich of natural beauty and wonderful surprises that it’s hard to miss out on anything. Still we have tried our efforts to make a list of must see things on the Turks and Caicos Islands.
More than 150 species of birds reside in the Turks and Caicos Islands. Great Blue Herons, Egrets, Frigates, Flamingos, Boobies, pelicans and Terns to name a few, you along with your partner would love to admire the beauty of these birds here on a romantic day out. It is the salty ponds and marshes in land that serves as a perfect feeding ground for resident as well as migratory birds. Some of the wildlife photographs snapped here, have gained recognition and appreciation worldwide.
Caicos Conch farm is a serene place and is the only sea farm in the world where Caribbean Queen Conchs are raised from Veliger to adult. The whole process of bringing up of Conchs is also explained here. You and your partner can also enjoy a show with the two trained Conchs, have a look at the Conch pearls or even purchase a fresh Conch.
This 200 year old ruins of a former cotton plantation is one of the key historic attractions on the Providenciales. The National Trust has carefully preserved the building ruins which offers spectacular views of the the Island. The plantations here are said to have survived for 30 years, before soil exhaustion, draught and the hurricane in 1812 ultimately destroyed them.
The pieces of this lighthouse were assembled at this place, after being constructed in UK in 1852. This lighthouse still works and guards the Northern tip of Grand Turk. Protected by the National Trust, this lighthouse along with the light house keeper’s house is a prized historic site to visit with your partner. The lighthouse also overlooks the North Creek, an inland body of water.
These majestic creatures pass through the Sea as a part of their annual migration for mating and birth. Hence, are seen around the Islands of Grand Turk & Salt cay during the months of late January through April. You can also take your partner on a romantic Scuba dive with you and enjoy hearing the songs of these whales.
One of the proclaimed National treasures of the Government, JOJO is a unique Dolphin fish who voluntarily interacts with the humans. He has been living in the shallow waters of the Turks and Caicos Islands since 1980. A trip to JOJO from your side to your partner will be a pleasant surprise for him/her.
This is a naturally formed, massive limestone 40 feet deep hole, located in the Long Bay in Providenciales. Here, you and your partner can enjoy travelling 80 feet down with the help of a rope, directly into a swimming hole and enjoy swimming there, with each other.
